INFORM's Rail Scheduler coordinates the timing and sequence of container moves between the yard and rail loading area. The system synchronizes multiple work streams: retrieval from yard blocks, transfer through the interchange zone, positioning at the rail ramp, and loading onto trains. By balancing equipment workload and respecting rail departure windows, RS reduces local congestion and prevents containers from arriving too early (blocking ramp space) or too late (missing the train). Operators remain in control: they receive clear task schedules with time windows that fit into TOS workflows and can reprioritize when disruptions occur. For terminal operators, this results in consistent adherence to rail schedules and the ability to handle more trains per day through the same rail infrastructure.
