INFORM's Vehicle Optimizer sequences vehicle tasks in real time to reduce empty runs and idle time in terminal transport operations. The system analyzes job priorities, travel distances, and equipment availability to create optimized work orders. Where operationally feasible, the Vehicle Optimizer identifies opportunities for double-cycling – picking up a container on the return trip rather than traveling empty. Dispatchers remain in charge: they receive clear job sequences that can be executed directly or adjusted based on ground conditions. Through integration with positioning systems and the TOS, the optimizer works with actual equipment locations and container positions. For terminal operators, this means completing more transport jobs per shift with the existing fleet, reducing fuel consumption and equipment wear, and maintaining service levels during volume peaks.
